As part of the GCC Entertainment On the Green Series, The GCC Marimba Band will present traditional Mexican and Guatemalan marimba favorites, music for solo marimba and Cuban musical selections arranged for marimba ensemble. The diverse show will feature Tambores, a dynamic duo featuring percussion virtuosos Joe Garcia and ASU’s Dom Moio. The concert is supported by the GCC Student Leadership Center and local percussion impressario Jeff Morse, director of The Rosewood Rascals. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free!

Glendale Folk Festival, March 19-20th

2016 Glendale Folk & Heritage Festival 
10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 19 & Sunday, Mar. 20 – FREE
Come out and enjoy over 400 performers featuring everything from folk and bluegrass music to cowboy poetry and storytelling. This award-winning event includes several performance venues and “jam sessions” locations for musicians. Highlights include historic house tours, demonstrations and hands-on workshops led by accomplished entertainers.

The Glendale Community College Dance Program is proud to present SPARK!

Featuring choreographic works by Rebecca Rabideau, Artistic Director of VERVE Dance Company; Quita-Love Cheramie, Shauna Meredith, and Tricia Rodgers, GCC Dance Faculty; and Guest Artists Amy Morrow and Andy Noble.  SPARK! will showcase choreography by graduating GCC Dance Majors Quan J. Davis, Mayra Garcia, Crystal Mora, Clarissa Pitre, and Kierra La’Don Williams.

Festival of Tales This Saturday at PVCC

FESTIVAL OF TALES

Festival of Tales is a fun day of reading, literacy and cultural activities for children and families that includes storytelling, arts and crafts, games, face painting, live music, food trucks and much more!

In its eighth year at PVCC, Festival of Tales brings books to life through the art of storytelling and provides FREE books to children who participate in the activities. PVCC’s Art of Storytelling classes, Education Program, the Divison of Fine & Performing Arts, and the Commercial Music Program present this free event for children in the community. Storytelling sessions are at 10 am, 11:30 am, and 1 pm. In addition, PVCC’s Partners in Art Club will provide demonstrations of pottery making and clay sculpting, and Bricks4kidz.com will provide LEGO buidling stations that focus on STEM principles (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

The festival also features live musical performances by Heidi Swedberg and the Sukey Jump Band (children’s music), PVCC student music ensembles, Benchmark School Show Choir, Valley Academy Choir and much more!
